Welcome ladies! I'm excited that there is some interest in doing this! If you want to post an article, or if you have an idea for a new post, let me know by email and we will go from there.
What is your impression so far on our study book, Respectable Sins?
Regarding our study, "Respectable Sins": I'm starting to understand how important it is to keep God's glory in view always (something that I fail miserably at doing), to remember that He is the audience to my every thought, word and deed and to never, ever forget about His amazing grace through it all. I'm so thankful that God has given me the opportunity to walk through this study with each of you ladies, that we may share, confess our sins, help, pray, hold one another accountable and just grow in the Lord together as we face these sins in our lives and seek to mortify them, all to God's glory! The power of God in us is bigger than the power of sin in us! With God all things are possible! Let's get a grip on sin and not allow sin to have a grip on us! I think often of Ephesians 2 (where we once were, without hope, without God, without Christ in this world, once far off), but God, who is rich in mercy and love, brought us near by the blood of Christ! Saved by grace! Also, Romans 6-8 are good chapters to read through again and again regarding sin and walking in the Spirit. Wow! Do I ever have alot to learn. May God bless each of us as He progressively sanctifies us, for His purpose and in His perfect timing. I praise God for His patience with me and that He is faithful to complete the good work He started in me (Phil 1:5) and that He works all things for good (Rom 8:28). How I pray to be a woman after God's own heart and to walk in integrity on God's earth, all for His good pleasure. Blessings and hugs to you all!
Correction: Scripture reference to comment: "I praise God for His patience with me and that He is faithful to complete the good work He started in me (Phil 1:5)" is Phil 1:6, not Phil 1:5. Sorry!
Some thoughts on 1 John 3:4 "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness." practice - means making sin an unbroken, habitual pattern of sin lawlessness - means an ultimate senseof rebellion, living as if there was no law or ignoring what law exist. Today I thought of lawlessness as living without the thought that Jesus bears my punishment, the curse for my sin. Thank you, Jesus, for bearing the sin curse for me and my ugly sin, sin, sin. Thank you, Jesus, for forgiving me!
I'm sorry we missed get together Wed. night. Please try to have read ch. 1-3 in the hard-covered book and do pgs. 17-24 in the discussion guide by next time. We'll try to post some questions here to discuss and keep us thinking about what we are learning. Here is something I wanted to share with you from an encouragement journal I received from a special friend: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you." Numbers 6:24-25 Do you want to pray for someone? This is a great way to start. What person wouldn't appreciate these words, committing her to God's care and wanting her to draw closer ot Him? I'll be praying for you!

Excellent insight. I feel so blessed to be part of this fellowship, where believers are constantly seeking to reform their lives to the Word of God!

How would you define sin? Put it in your own word, from your own understanding.
